VJapDoes Japan love Vanessa Hudgens? We shall find out June 18, 2008.

Apparently Vanessa or should I say the powers that be in Hollywood Records (Universal) loves Japan because Identified will be release there earlier than in the U.S and it’s even available for pre-order at CDJapan. So how do you say “OMG, I’m so excited” in Niponggo?

Oooo but did I just hear a chorus of “so not fair” from the US fans? What does this means to us who have to wait a couple of weeks longer though? The possibility of the album leaking on or around the 18th (Japan is about 12 hrs ahead of eastern US) - that’s what! I didn’t want to point that out but you have to admit - it is inevitable. I just hope you guys still pick up the album when it hits stores on July 1st.

But the possibility of a leak is not the biggest OMG on this news - no cherie! Here, let me highlight the album description:

Advanced Japanese release (subject to change) of the second full-length album from “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens. Procuded by JR Rotem, Mark Ronson, and more. Japanese edition features Japan-only bonus track and Japan-original album art (all details subject to change).

Bonus Track: Japan-only bonus track (subject to change)

You know what it is? Do you know what got Tim turning into a “fangirl” ;) (ok, as a Maroon 5 fan - I too did a Londonclap *yayme). And no it’s not the bonus track - which is also good…

Please do note CDJapan’s disclaimer on date availability and bonus track..

UPDATE: Both Amazon Japan and Barks listed a June 18th release date for the album also (thanks Arlene!)

Entertainment Weekly has the first look at Vanessa Hudgens‘ sophomore release, Identified, out July 1.

“[The album] is definitely sophisticated,” Vanessa says. “But it’s also funky and fun–something that I would, like, actually listen to.”

Here’s what EW had to say about three of the album’s tracks:

“Sneakernight” — The thumping first single “is a fun song about hanging out with your girlfriends and wearing sneakers,” says Hudgens, who’s no stranger to stiletto-induced red-carpet cramps. “When I show the video, I was like, ‘I cannot believe I’m wearing sneakers for the first time in a music video!’ It was awesome.”

“First Bad Habit” — Hudgens enlisted producer Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Pink) to pump synths into this sassy anthem “about when you like a hug so much but know he’s a complete a–hole.” Is said rapscallion like any particular man in her life? “It hasn’t happened to me, but a lot of my friends have gone through so much crap.”

“Gone with the Wind” — “And now I’m standing my ground/And who I am/For that I’m proud,” she declares in this stripped-down ballad. “I just kind of went for it…. The song basically means: I know a lot more, and that timidness and naïveté is gone with the wind.”

Vanessa Hudgen’s ‘Will’ movie has now been officially renamed to Rock On.

WILL BURTON (Gaelan Connell) is used to being bullied or completely ignored by his schoolmates, so when cool and popular former cheerleader CHARLOTTE BANKS (Alyson Michalka) starts inviting him to hang out with her, the quirky teenager is stunned—and so is his doting single mom KAREN. Impressed by his eclectic knowledge of music, Charlotte, a gifted singer-songwriter, asks Will to manage her fledgling rock band. The goal: go head to head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend BEN at a regional battle-of-the-bands.

Unsure of what he’s getting himself into, Will agrees to help Charlotte’s off-beat trio, eventually expanding it with a crew of like-minded outcasts. Against all odds, the group’s sound starts to come together and their prospects for success look bright. Even more amazingly, Will’s loser status finally seems to be a thing of the past; he even has a potential romance brewing with a kindred spirit named SAM (Vanessa Anne Hudgens), a classmate with untapped musical talents. But when Charlotte is faced with a family tragedy, she suddenly breaks off her friendship with Will and quits the band, leaving their competition chances in tatters. With Will’s new-found self-confidence on the ropes and the contest almost upon them, he and the band must choose whether to admit defeat or face the music and stand up for what they believe in.

Director: Todd Graff
Cast: Gaelan Connell, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Alyson Michalka, Lisa Kudrow and Scott Porter
Producer: Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas
Screenplay: Jeff Knipp and Todd Graff

With new new album, Identified, set to be released on July 1, Vanessa Hudgens recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to promote the CD.
Here’s what she had to say about a trio of singles from it:
Sneakernight: The strange song title sums up the video, as Vanessa and friends just spend the night, hanging out in sneakers.
“When I show the video, I was like, ‘I cannot believe I’m wearing sneakers for the first time in a music video!’ It was awesome.”

Will you buy Identified, from Vanessa Hudgens, when it comes out?
First Bad Habit: Hudgens said this song is “about when you like a hug so much but know he’s a complete a–hole.” Wait, is that a dig at Zac Efron? No, Hudgens assures her fans, the event described above “hasn’t happened to me, but a lot of my friends have gone through so much crap.”
Gone with the Wind: “And now I’m standing my ground/And who I am/For that I’m proud,” she declares in this ballad. What does that mean, exactly?
“I just kind of went for it…. The song basically means: I know a lot more, and that timidness and naïveté is gone with the wind.
